Content templates (snippets)

Applies to:
All versions
Role required:
Draft Contributor
Use content templates to insert frequently used text or elements via the Editor.

Content Templates eliminate the need to retype or copy and paste frequently used snippets or standardized verbiage onto a page. A content templates applies static pre-defined content and formatting anywhere you place it on a page.

Use content templates for:

  • Formatted notes and callouts: Insert formatted placeholder text, and then modify the text on the page.
  • Instructional text: Create templates of standardized verbiage for product usage, so it is always described the same way.
  • Custom content: Use content templates to insert global variables or other custom code in a pre-defined manner.

Updates to Content Templates do not apply to preexisting pages. Any changes to Content Templates only apply to new pages.
