User types
- Viewer: End user who can only view public and permissioned content.
A site administrator assigns / creates viewers, and viewers need to log in to view exclusive content.- Anonymous viewer (not logged in): Can only view public content.
This user type may also be called an untracked or unauthenticated viewer and is sometimes just called anonymous. - Authenticated viewer (logged in): Can view public and private content. Formerly called a Community member, also called a tracked viewer.
An authenticated viewer is unseated, and is not the same as the Seated role called Viewer.
- Anonymous viewer (not logged in): Can only view public content.
- Seated user (previously called Pro member): Internal user who can contribute to the content.
These may be employees who draft and edit content or administer your site. Seated members are assigned a role by a site administrator and need to log in to contribute content. Roles are initially assigned in the control panel and can be overwritten by granting special permissions on pages or entire sections as needed.
For a Viewer to be able to edit or author content, they must be assigned as a seated member in the control panel, and then assigned the appropriate contributor role or follow the process for your IDP.
