Lists

Create numbered lists (HTML ordered lists <ol>) or bulleted lists (HTML unordered lists <ul>) in the Expert Editor.
Insert a list
- Place your cursor or highlight text where you want the list to start.
- Select the Numbered List icon or Ordered List icon from the Editor Toolbar.
- To end the list, reselect the list icon you selected to start the list.
List format options
- Color: You can change the color of text within lists in the Expert editor, but the color of the numbers or bullets must be changed with custom CSS.
- Levels: To nest levels within a list, place your cursor with the item to nest, select the Indentation icon from the the Editor Toolbar and select Increase Indent. Select Decrease Indent on a list item to unnest it.
- List type combinations: To nest bulleted lists within numbered lists and or numbered lists within bulleted lists, indent an item first and then select the Numbered List icon or Ordered List icon to change the list type.
- Numbered list properties: Right-click within a numbered list and select Numbered List Properties.
- In the Start field, you can specify a different number for the list item.
- In the Type drop-down, you can select a different ordered list style (Lower Roman, Upper Roman, Lower Alpha, Upper Alpha, Decimal).
- Bulleted list properties: Right-click within a numbered list and select Bulleted List Properties.
- In the Type drop-down, you can select a different ordered list style (Circle, Disc, Square).
- List style combinations: To use different list styles within the same list, indent an item first and then right-click to access the properties to select a different list style.
- Text on a new line without breaking the list: Press shift + enter on your keyboard, add text on a blank line, and then press Enter to start the new list item.
- Insert image without breaking the list: Press shift + enter on your keyboard, insert an image as usual, and then press Enter to start the new list item.
shift + enter functionality gets overridden by Conditional Content functionality if you are creating a list within Conditional Content
List example
- This is a numbered (ordered) list with the default number style.
- This an indented (nested) item formatted as a bulleted (unordered) list with the default bullet style.
- This is another numbered list item.
This is an example of how you can press shift + enter to add text on a new line without breaking the list. - This is another numbered list item.
- This is an indented numbered list item with the list style changed to Lower Roman.
- Add another line without changing the indent.
- Press Enter and then Indentation icon > Decrease Indent to add another item at this level after a nested list.
- The previous list item included an image without breaking the list (press shift + enter to insert the image and then press enter to start the new list item).
- This is an indented item formatted as a square bulleted list item.
- This is an indented item formatted as a square bulleted list item.
