Display options for Category and Guide pages
Users can customize Category and Guide pages in Expert with various views, each affecting navigation and accessibility.
Category page
The available options are Simple and Detailed views.
Simple view
Displays the thumbnail and title of the sub-page.
Pros:
- Presents more options within one page without scrolling.
- Users can quickly scan the page and make a decision.
- Offers a cleaner look.
Cons:
- May be too simple, forcing users to click into multiple section to try and find the information they are looking for.
Detailed view
Displays the thumbnail, title, summary of the sub-page, and any sub-pages that exist below that sub-page.
Pros:
- The summary provides more information about the sub-page, which can help users decide if the page is what they want to read.
- The listing of sub-pages below the sub-page allows users to decide if it is the correct section to click into.
- This can speed up navigation because it allows users to skip a click and head directly to the sub-page.
Cons:
- Can present too many options, causing decision fatigue and slowing down navigation.
- If the sub-page is a Guide page, the organization of content within the Guide using tabs will be irrelevant.
Guide page
The available options are Single and Tabbed views.
Single view
- Removes the Tab container and presents the content from the main tab directly on the page.
Tabbed view
- Keeps the Tab container active, allowing all tabs to be visible.
Picking the correct view for Guides is more straightforward. For one Guide tab, use the Single option; for more than one Guide tab, use the Tabbed version so users can see all the available tabs.
