Enable preferred username for OIDC

If you use OpenID Connect (OIDC) for Single Sign On (SSO), you can choose to display preferred usernames so that usernames in Expert are human-readable.

These changes make it easier to identify and locate users throughout the site, eliminating confusion caused by non-human-readable username data.

To use preferred usernames for OIDC, you must enable this feature within your IdP configuration.

When enabled:

  • A new Preferred Name column appears in the user table in the Control Panel.
  • A new Preferred Name column is included in the downloadable users.csv file.
  • Users can search by preferred name within the user table in the Control Panel.
  • The preferred username is displayed wherever available, replacing the previous GUID-based username.

Preferred usernames will also be displayed in:

  • The page toolbar UI.
  • The Product Info, Users & Groups, and Maintenance & History sections of the Control Panel.
  • Reports, exports, and downloads.

UserHub users do not have an email linked to their account, so product features that send information through email (for example, page subscription notifications) will not work.
